Suspect in Tuaran molesting spree arrested


KOTA KINABALU: A 29-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly going on a molesting spree in Tuaran last week.

He allegedly committed the offences on three females between 1pm and 4pm on June 24, and Tuaran OCPD DSP Noraidin Awang Maidin said the victims are aged between 15 and 31.

“According to one of the reports, the victim was approached by an unknown man who suddenly hugged them from behind and started molesting them,” he said in a statement.

He said the suspect had been aggressive and some of the victims reported losing cash and other possessions during the incidents.

DSP Noraidin added that the suspect was arrested at around 3am on June 25, and said that he was found to be a mentally-disabled patient of Hospital Mesra Bukit Padang

He said the man tested positive for drugs and held an OKU card from Bukit Padang.

It is learnt that the suspect had just been released from the hospital for three days and was supposed to refer to the hospital for weekly reviews.

DSP Noraidin said the suspect will be referred to the hospital for further action and added that the investigation into the cases is ongoing.
